#2 '원래~','~하게 되다'
1. 원래는 친구들 몇명이랑 영화 보고 같이 점심을 먹으려고 했는데, 친구 하나가 갑자기 일이 생겨서 결국 다 취소하게 됐어.
=> I was actually going to go to the movies with some friends and we were going to have lunch together.
But one of them suddenly had something to do so we just ended up canceling the whole thing.
2. 원래는 상급 모델을 사고 싶었는데, 돈이 좀 부족해서 결국엔 이걸로 사게 됐어요.
=> I actually wanted to buy a higher model, but I didn't have enough money. So I ended up buying this one.
3. 원래는 해외여행을 계획했었는데 표를 못구해서 아무데도 못가게 됐어.
=> We were actually planning to travel abroad but we couldn't get tickets so eventually we couldn't go anywhere.
4. 원래는 디저트를 안먹으려고 했는데, 케익이 너무 맛있어 보이는거야. 그래서 안먹을 수 없었어. 결국은 3조각이나 먹었어.
=> I wasn't going to eat any dessert but the cake looked so ~ good!. I couldn't resist. I ended up eating 3 pieces.
5. 원래는 얘기를 안하려고 했는데, 너가 얘기를 꺼내서 말인데, 사실 궁금한게 하나 있어.
=> I wasn't going to say anything but since you bring it up, I have something I want to ask you.
★ was/were going to : ~을 할려고 했(었)다.
EX.
1) 나 여자친구랑 데이트 하려고 했었어.
=> I was gonna(going to) have a date with my girlfriend.
2) 나 친구들이랑 놀려고 했었어.
=> I was gonna hang out with some friends.
3) 나 저번주말에 일하러 가려고 했었어.
=> I was gonna go to work last weekend.
4) 올 여름에 친구랑 해외여행을 가려고 했었어.
=> I was actually planning to travel abroad with some friends this summer.
5) 다이어트를 하려고 했었는데, 맛있는게 너무 많아서 참을 수 없었어.
=> I was actually gonna be on diet, There are so many things looked delicious. I couldn't resist.
★ end up ~ing : 결국 ~를 하게 되다.
EX.
1) 요즘 너무 힘들어서 결국 일을 그만두게 되었어
=> I'm going through a hard time and ended up quitting the work
2) 의견충돌이 너무 많아서 결국 싸우게 되었어
=> There is a lot of disagreements. So finally we ended up having arguments.
